Pfauenauge-oval

Three-piece set: round doily 22 cm in diameter, square doily 18 x 18 cm, oval doily 20 x 32 cm. Materials: 20 grams MEZ glossy crochet yarn size 100, 2 sets of size 1.25 mm knitting needles, 1 crochet hook size 0.6mm.

Round doily: Cast on 8 stitches, distribute evenly onto 4 needles, join to work in the round, work according to chart A; repeat the pattern a total of 8 times in the round. In round 39, increase 7 stitches from each of the 3 adjacent yarn overs, and in round 55, increase 9 stitches from each of the 3 yarn overs, alternating 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch. After round 68, cast off the stitches with a crochet hook, combining as many stitches into one single crochet as indicated in the last round, and chaining 11 between the single crochets.

Square doily: Begin as for the round doily, with chart A, but start with round 3 and disregard rounds 5/6, 7/8, and 15/16. After round 26 (= round 34 according to chart A), continue according to chart B from round 27 onwards. After round 58, cast off the stitches as for the round doily.

Oval Doily: Cast on 1 stitch, work the center shank according to chart Ca, purl all wrong-side rows; slip the first stitch of each row as if to knit, and knit the last stitch. After the 90th row, cut the yarn and weave in the ends carefully. Pick up 45 stitches from the edge stitches of the bridge on each side, distribute them onto 3 needles each, and then continue working according to chart C in the round, knitting all rounds in the round. Increase 9 stitches from the 3 adjacent yarn overs (see round doily). From rounds 1 to 19, work the pattern repeat to the right of the strong line 3 times on each side, and the pattern to the left of the strong line only once on each of the two opposite sides. From round 21 onwards, work the pattern repeat 10 times in 1 round. After round 56, bind off the stitches as for the round doily.
